Smilei

Smilei

As a result of a study, it appears that companies are putting more and more money into VR and less into applications. Our partners have an interest in trustworthy emotion recognition software and a humane interface. For example, the emotion recognition with 3D avatars is not available in VR surroundings and during video calls using applications like Skype it is very limited.

The amount of insecurity that comes with using one type of sensors is one of the problems with the measurement of emotions. By combining different kinds of sensors like voice and face recognition it becomes possible to enhance the trustworthiness of the measurements and to detect any triggers which can be used for simulations and game projects. Smilei will be delivered as a library which will be compatible with the Unity engine.

As for the proof of concept, Smilei will become a state-machine in which these multiple techniques control a single and more reliable output. Involved in Smilei are Saassen Groep, Noldus BV, Vokaturi, GGzE, Home of Legends, Fantazm, Enversed, Game Solutions Lab and Fontys Hogeschool ICT. The project term is from August 2019 to February 2021.
