The team of researchers of the Nano4Sports project presented three demos at the ICT in Practice symposium at Natlab, Eindhoven, on Thursday the 21st of March. De demos showed that surprising progress has been made in the previous few months. The Nano4Sports laboratory is in use since the beginning of 2019.
The first demo showed a system to accurately identify steps by using custom sensors. This information is the essential basis to analyse if a runner or walker is moving in an ergonomical way. The next demo showed the use of smartphones and AI algorithms to classify a moving pattern as walking or running.
In the last demo directional audio was used to correct the posture of runners. If the body of a runner is off balance, audio signals motivate the runner to correct his posture. This is a new technique that has not been used before.
